During her studies, Albertien’s interest in the subject of managing African wildlife was sparked by an article in Africa Geographic. For her MSc thesis she researched the relationship between foraging behaviour of ungulates and ‘islands of fertility’. The findings were published in Mammalian Biology, under the title “Grazing ungulates select for grasses growing beneath trees in African savannas”.
