During her studies, Albertien’s interest in the subject of managing African wildlife was sparked by an article in Africa Geographic. For her BSc thesis she researched the implications of using ‘immunocontraception’ to manage population growth in African elephants. Her findings were published in Pachyderm, the Journal of the African Elephant, African Rhino and Asian Rhino Specialist Groups, under the title “Prospects for managing African elephant population growth by immunocontraception: a review”.
